The HEALing Community Center, a comprehensive medical center located in SW Atlanta, will distribute food and toiletries to 250-300 patients, individuals, and families in need at its main site on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The event will be located in the parking lot at 2600 MLK, Jr. Blvd SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30311.
The food distribution is free and open to the public. Drive-through and walk-up distribution lines will be available. Online registration for recipients at www.healingcommunitycenter.org is preferred.
The HEALing Community Center will also be sharing information on another tool that provides real-time data to healthcare providers and communities. That tool is a smartphone app, TechTank COVID19, which allows people to provide COVID-19 pre-screening information for themselves and their families that, in turn, enables healthcare providers to view real-time data by zip code and client base. This can allow facilities to develop workforce, containment, and mitigation strategies; and allow communities to develop communication strategies and gain insight. The app, designed by local healthcare and academia professionals, is utilized locally and internationally. All data is privacy protected.
As a part of its COVID-19 response plan, the HEALing Community Center aims to use the tool for both its patients and in community outreach for operations planning, continued advocacy and education, and public health needs assessment. Pre-screening will be facilitated by HCC onsite and is optional is to the public.
The mission of the HEALing Community Center (HCC) is to provide comprehensive, affordable, quality primary care and services to children, adults, and underserved populations; and offer wellness programs that encourage healthy outcomes for its patients and the surrounding Atlanta communities. HCC operates three sites – one medical center, and two school clinics. HCC is a federally qualified health center and a 501(c)(3) registered agency.
HCC is supported by the Atlanta Community Food Bank for this event.
